Haywire Movie Review 2012 - CritiCarter

President Obama versus Ron Paul versus Mitt Romney versus Sarah Palin

Considering the fact that the 2012 election to win the Presidency is just over a year away from now, itÕs definitely the time to look at the ever-changing pack of likely candidates from the Conservative side who will try and unseat President Obama.

Mitt Romney looks more and more like a favorite for the 2012 election . Once a popular Massachusetts governor and 08 Presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney at age 63 remains young-looking, smart and quick-witted, and brings an outstanding background to bear. On the downside, his Mormon faith plus the Massachusetts health care law (which is much like President Obama's unpopular recently passed health care bill) might turn voters away from Romney.

Sarah Palin burst onto the political landscape in 2008 as John McCain's running mate, and even though she did an amazing job in firing up the GOP faithful, she also made a whole variety of now famous gaffes. Unfortunately for the McCain campaign, these mistakes overshadowed whatever merits she brought to the table, and far like Dan Quayle 2 full decades before her time, Sarah Palin found herself branded, perhaps unfairly, for being stupid and not at all of a Presidential caliber. That she walked away mid-term from her Governorship in Alaska also probably didnÕt win her a lot of political points. Taking all of this into consideration, plus her clear fame-mongering, it seems less and less likely that sheÕll actually make a 2012 election bid.

Mike Huckabee is one other popular contender for this 2012 election. The former governor of the state of Arkansas and another 2008 candidate that did not receive the nomination, Huckabee was the GOP frontrunner for some time during the 2008 campaign, without same big budgets that benefitted other candidates. Currently the host of a show on FOX News, Huckabee remains popular with the GOP base and has also demonstrated his power to run an effective campaign. Successful fundraising may be the key for a Huckabee Presidential run.

Newt Gingrich has been a GOP player for more than 2 decades, perhaps most notably during his time as Speaker of The House. Seen as an visionary, well-educated and goal-minded, Gingrich's personal life continues to be somewhat marred by a few divorces together with his polarizing status with the general populace. That said, Newt Gingrich is a skilled grassroots organizer and even though he's never run for President, his candidacy is certainly looking more and more of a sure bet.

Ron Paul, now 75, would wind up being oldest of all of the likely 2012 election candidates, but he also has experience in the arena, having made a run at the presidency twice before, as a Libertarian in 1988 and next as a Republican in 2008. Unfortunately, several of Ron Paul's platform are looked upon as being too conservative, even for conservatives. WhatÕs more, many have observed that his rabid supporters can be more intimidating than helpful to the campaign.

ItÕs definitely still way too soon to tell who'll emerge as being the Republican selection for the 2012 election. Still, it ought to end up being an interesting election season for certain.
